Three Years

Three years. Two kids. Countless dinners. Plenty of projects.  An ever-growing to-do list. Lots of dreams. And many, many blessings.

On one hand, I can’t believe we’ve been on Hillside Lane for three years already. On the other, I can’t believe it has only been three years. This house just feels like the essence of us. It isn’t huge or super fancy. There are scratches on the dark wood floors and dings on some of the walls. I’ve been known to cover nicks in our Ikea furniture with permanent marker and our bedroom nightstands remain mismatched. But each little nook and cranny, each project we take on and dream that we dream for our little space in this world is filled with love and pride and blessings.

It’s amazing the way the house has changed in just three years.

It has been so much fun watching our home evolve. It is slow, but sure progress. People often ask how long we will stay in this house. It seems like an obvious question.  It isn’t a huge house and we have filled all the bedrooms and the toy count in the family room seems to grow every week. But I also can’t imagine life anywhere else. We have big dreams for this little spot and even bigger dreams for our family. There are things we want to do and places we want to go. I’ll take a smaller house over a larger mortgage to get us to those dreams.

After three years on Hillside Lane, I still count our home among our many blessings every single day. We are surrounded by the people and things that mean the most to us and it gives us the chance to dream big and work hard to build a beautiful home filled with many happy memories.

Here’s to the past three years on Hillside Lane…and more importantly, here’s to many, many more.
