A couple weeks back, I was pulling into our little neighborhood and there is Andris flagging me down to come look at what he found….in the garbage. It was our neighborhood’s large garbage pick up that happens twice a year and my sweet husband spied a small table and chairs that was perfect for some DIYing.
The $2 chalk table that I had done a few years ago was officially done after being subjected to rain and snow for too many seasons. This new table and chairs will be just the replacement. Patience with these projects is never my strong suit, so in a sudden burst of DIY energy I decided to tackle this project while my 1 year old took a late nap and my 3 year old played outside with the water table. I don’t know why I didn’t recognize the flaws in this plan…
But seriously – she was so excited to help. We ruined a t-shirt in the process, but the excitement level and smiles were worth it.
I initially planned to paint the chairs, but the yellow pops nicely with the black table and, let’s be honest – after getting the table done with a 3 year old’s help…my DIY energy was a little drained.
Of course, after putting in so much effort, we had to try the table out before bedtime. Thank goodness for a good breeze that helped it dry fast!
