I still am in shock/denial that Luci is 4 years old – but we celebrated with a few little friends and a lot of summer fun. I feel like Amazon Prime and Etsy need a shout out for saving this working mom on this one. Despite a last minute scramble to pull it all together – it was a great celebration for a super fun four year old.
As always, Etsy is an endless supply of inspiration and cute invitations, with matching printables that makes it all so much easier. Beach balls and bright colors were the winners this year. Many thanks to MyExpression for their adorable designs and printables.
I filled our backyard with beach balls and turned on the sprinkler. Can you tell I was going for low maintenance? The kids ran around for 2 hours – total success…and easy bedtimes 😉
My girl had one request for her birthday – a pinata (pronounced with no “~” and with a major emphasis on the 2nd syllable…I hope I can remember the way she pronounces it forever because it makes me smile every.single.time.) I showed her some choices online and she wanted an ice cream cone pinata. Perfect. We had a special date to the party store to pick it out and her smile was ear to ear.
To keep with the summer theme and match the pinata, the ice cream cone cupcakes were my attempt at a Pinterest inspired dessert. Somehow they didn’t end up looking like those I found online 😉 and if you had seen them when I tried to frost them with a frosting bag and tips, they would have qualified for one of those Pinterest “Nailed It” memes. I was able to salvage them and, let’s be honest, there’s not much that a few sprinkles can’t fix.
It was a fun day for the sweetest four year old I know. While the years have gone far too fast – Luci has made every moment so much fun. She fills my heart with joy and her spirit is infectious. We are blessed beyond measure to have our sweet girl and I am soaking it up because I am realizing just how fast it all goes. I can’t wait to see all that this next year will bring…but you can count on the fact that she’ll be keeping us smiling through it all. Lucija, mes tevi milam. We love you more than words. Happy 4th Birthday, to our girl.
