Every once in a while, you get a moment like David & Diyanna’s wedding. My brother and his bride are such special people in our lives. But the incredible thing was how their wedding was such a testament to what a special role they play in lives of so many. Friends and family dressed to the nines and kicked up their heels to celebrate such an incredible bride and gr0om.
David and Diyanna had a vision for their wedding that they saw through to the very last detail. They thought of everything. Moscow mules served in copper mugs, the ceremony, their vows, the centerpieces, the food (mac and cheese bar, anyone?!), the music, the drinks, the dancing – it all just felt like an extension of them. It was genuine and eclectic and fun and beautiful – all words that I would use to describe these two wonderful people.
The venue. The wedding was at Salvage One – an antique warehouse in Chicago. I don’t think they could have found a more perfect spot. These two are old souls with a vintage touch and the location echoed all those things.

The ceremony. I think this was my favorite part. My beautiful sister in law walked down the aisle to All I Want is You by Barry Louis Polisar and they walked out to Jackson by Johnny Cash …. pure perfection. A long time friend provided the story line to the ceremony, tracing their path and their past from when they met in high school and what brought them to their wedding day. Their vows – I mean, I will never in my life see vows like theirs again. It included promises to love, support, laugh and to never serve mild cheddar. There was even a moment that included singing members of the congregation. I laughed and I cried…but more than anything, I remember just hoping that I could remember this moment for so long. It was that kind of magic.
All the rest. The tables. The food. The dancing. The toasts. The feeling that filled the room. It was incomparable. There aren’t words to do it justice, but just thinking about it makes me want to do it all over again.
Their love story is one for the books. It is as beautiful as they are, inside and out. And their wedding day was a perfect reflection of all of that. We were so lucky to be part of their day and even luckier to have them as part of our lives. Here’s to a lifetime of love and happiness and never, ever mild cheddar. Cheers to you D&D.
